Who Are The Eternals, and where do they fit in the MCU? (possible spoilers)

If you haven't seen the latest and greatest Marvel trailer that is The Eternals, watch it HERE and try not to get Game of Thrones mixed up with Marvel. The Eternals Trailer

So, now that you've seen it let's get down to business because it's kind of complicated and a heck of a lot to research to do, as I am someone who knew very little about the Eternals.

Eternals are long-living humans who aren't immortal. They don't interact with regular people very much and they can't procreate more Eternals.  The Celestials (what Star Lord's dad is) created them after performing genetic experiments on early humans.

You can read more about this whole history if you'd like, it's a lot of this guy got mad so he went away, then they came back to Earth and got mad. There was a Civil War in there,  and at one point Rhodey helps em out, and at some point in the past, they ran into Thor but they wiped his memory so he doesn't remember them - it's a lot.

Anyway where I think this film is going to take place....

At some point, during our time period, the Eternals have no memory of who they were, except Ikaris (Richard Madden's character). Sprite, who is an Eternal who is stuck as an 11-year-old forever gets mad about this. I mean who wouldn't? You're basically in puberty forever! She decides to change reality for everyone (because that's how Eternals lash out I guess). The Eternals on Earth get amnesia and their histories become distorted to them. The Eternals we meet in the film think they're all regular people - one works for Stark Industries, one is in college, one is married with a son, and they're basically having their whole lives distorted. Ikaris tries to tell the Eternals about their past but they don't believe him because their realities are all messed up.

Some of them (Ikaris, Makkari, Sersi, and Thena) then all end up at a party and they get their powers back, then later get their memories back, which is perfect timing because an ancient Celestial,  gets woken up in San Francisco and decides to judge humanity. The Eternals need more recruits so they go on a journey to find more of them on Earth who had their realities messed up by Sprite and her stupidity.

This leads to the Eternals having to team up with the Avengers to stop more Celestials from showing up and trying to destroy Earth.

Believe me, there's a whole lot more to this but based on the research I did into these new characters, I think this is where they might fit in with this new phase of the MCU. I might be wrong but I guess we'll see.

Am I missing something? Do you think Marvel Studios will take the Eternals in a different direction?
